Be an inspiration. . .

Categorized as R&B SOUL, it is without a doubt that Lea Anderson has what the music industry has been waiting for. Through her own rhythm and blues, Lea Anderson aims to create an intimate connection between herself and anyone who has come in contact with her fluid soprano sound. Versatile, she can be acoustic, with a piano, supplemented with tracks, or with her four piece band. No matter the set up, Lea Anderson is always equipped with a flute, which was handed down by her Mother. Lea Anderson’s music is a timeless entity providing us with sounds enlaced with heartfelt melodies, strong vocals and lyrics that tell the story of her past heartbreaks, current happiness, new found self-love, and hopes for equality.

Born in Washington DC, raised in South Carolina now residing in New York, Lea Anderson’s goal it to conquer the music industry note after note.  As a member of Actors Equity Association, Lea Anderson mastered orchestration, harmony and melodies through Musical Theatre.  Through the wonderful world of theatre, Lea Anderson performed favorite shows including HAIR, Little Shop of Horrors, Ragtime and Smokey Joes Cafe.  Now a staple of New York’s live music scene, Lea has played venues from The Apollo, Rockwood Music Hall, Joe’s Pub at the Public Theatre, The Duplex, Duane Park, as well as the Make Music NYC just to name a few. ARTIST STATEMENT:

I believe that music is a ministry. I feel that it is the responsibility of the artist to create music that their generation can learn from, relate to, grow, and vibe with. I do not use gimmicks, I am not trying to replace anyone who’s come before me, I am not experimental. This is simply my testimony. What I think my generation needs more than anything else right now is a collection of feel good music that reflects what is going on around them. I didn’t just pull things together, these are melodies and lyrics I invented while I was sitting alone with GOD. Some came through meditation (SKIN), some came from crying and hurting from heartbreak (More Than I Could), one came from being tispy (Mine). I hand picked each instrumentalist, I only chose composers I was immediately drawn to ---I didn’t seek out clout, I felt vibes. I am very proud of this work and I hope that one day I can turn around and see more people striving to be the inspiration, loving their skin (whether it’s dark or light), choosing to see similarities before differences in others, investing in SISTAHOOD and walking away from abusive relationships at the first sight of it.
